Meaning of THEY’RE

THEY’RE… is a contraction of THEY ARE.

The apostrophe (’) in THEY’RE just shows that the letter (A) in ARE was omitted.

How to use THEY’RE

Use (THEY’RE) the same way you would use (THEY ARE).

E.g.

  • They are with the books.
  • They’re with the books.

Meaning of “THEIR”

THEIR… is a plural possessive adjective.

  • Plural = more than one person.
  • Possessive = possession or ownership.
  • adjective = describes a noun.

It refers to the ownership of a noun by more than one person or thing.

How to use “THEIR”

Use THEIR to describe that a particular noun belongs to more than one person or thing.

E.g.

  • Those are their books.
  • They’re with their books.

“THEIR” describes the noun (books) as belonging to a group of people — “them”.

Meaning of “THERE”

THERE… is a demonstrative pronoun and also an adverb of place.

How to use “THERE”

Use THERE to indicate the location of something or someone.

E.g.

  • The books are there.
  • There are 10 books in my bag.
